About Us
Bringing the Sauna Experience to You
Passionate about relaxation, quality craftsmanship, and the tradition of sauna culture in Minnesota’s Iron Range.

Our Story
I started Bastu Barrel Sauna Co. with a simple goal — to bring the warmth and tradition of true Finnish-style sauna culture to my local Minnesota community. Growing up on the Iron Range, I was surrounded by hard work, deep roots, and a love for the outdoors. Those values inspired me to create something that helps people slow down, connect, and recharge — no matter the season.
Our mobile barrel saunas are built to deliver an authentic, wood-fired experience that honors the heritage of sauna while making it accessible to everyone. Whether you’re lakeside, in the woods, or right at home, Bastu Barrel brings the heat, the steam, and the sense of community that’s at the heart of Minnesota living.

Meet Tony Carrillo
I’m Antonio Carrillo, but most people call me Tony. As a native Iron Ranger, I’ve always embraced the Iron Range lifestyle, working in the mines and spending time at my family’s cabin on Lake Vermilion.
Some of my best memories are of stepping into the sauna, feeling that first rush of löyly—the hot steam wrapping around me, instantly bringing sweat to my skin. That feeling, and the incredible health benefits of sauna use—improved circulation, muscle relaxation, detoxification, and stress relief—have stuck with me ever since.
For years, I’ve been passionate about sauna culture and craftsmanship. With a keen eye for detail and a love for building, I decided to turn my passion into a reality—bringing high-quality saunas to the Iron Range and beyond. My goal is simple: to share the sauna experience, connect with people, and create exceptional, handcrafted saunas for others to enjoy.
I’m Antonio Carrillo, but most people know me as Tony. As a native Iron Ranger, I’ve been fortunate to embrace the full Iron Range lifestyle, including a rewarding career in the mines. Growing up, some of my best memories were made at our family cabin on Lake Vermilion. While fishing was always a highlight, nothing compared to the anticipation of stepping into the sauna.
I’ll never forget the first time I experienced löyly—that rush of hot air wrapping around me, bringing instant sweat to my skin. The feeling is like no other, and the health benefits are incredible: improved circulation, muscle relaxation, detoxification, and stress relief, just to name a few.
My roots run deep in the diverse cultural tapestry of the Iron Range, particularly through my Finnish heritage (my last name, Rahja, speaks to that!). Growing up surrounded by this rich culture sparked my fascination with saunas. From a young age, I was drawn to the warmth and tranquility of saunas, always eager to be the first to stoke the fire or take a plunge into a nearby lake or pile of snow afterward.
Sauna culture has been a passion of mine since childhood, and now I want to share that experience with others. As a meticulous planner and perfectionist when it comes to building and craftsmanship, I’ve spent years preparing for this adventure. After moving out of town and acquiring a spacious barn to work from, I knew it was time to bring my vision to life.
Beyond my love for saunas, I’ve always been a people person. I look forward to not just building high-quality saunas, but also forming new relationships and sharing this tradition with as many people as possible.
Please let me know of anything else you need!
